200 participants at the 11th India Day in Cologne's SkyTower

Background

This year, our India Day 2024 took place at lofty heights in Cologne's SkyTower. Around 200 companies accepted the invitation from Luther and Maier+Vidorno Altios and took part in one of the biggest events for the Indo-German business community.

After an introduction on the current situation in India by Consul General B.S. Mubarak and an exciting report by VDMA Managing Director in India Rajesh Nath on where India's industry stands today, presentations were given by entrepreneurs representing companies such as Bayer, Dr. Oetker, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen and Leister Group, which have been doing very successful business in India for a long time. The speakers gave the participating company representatives valuable insights into the challenges of the Indian market, reported on their lessons learned and gave practical tips for business success in India.

Our partner and Head of India Practice Group in Germany Thomas Weidlich discussed the future prospects of the Indian economy in a first panel with representatives from industry associations and companies. The second panel focused on India's role in de-risking strategies and discussed the advantages for German companies compared to Southeast Asia.

Former German national hockey player Timur Oruz concluded India Day 2024 with an entertaining speech about his personal sporting highlight - the 2023 World Cup title in India.

During the coffee breaks, lunch and the concluding get-together with regional German Kölsch beer, there was ample opportunity to exchange newly gained knowledge, obtain helpful information from the exhibitors and make numerous new contacts.
