Joint venture in India: Luther advises GRIMME

The German GRIMME Group, the global leader in the production of potato, beet and vegetable technology, has established a 50/50 joint venture for the development and marketing of agricultural machinery with the Indian company Shaktiman, one of India's leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery. Luther provided legal advice to GRIMME.

With over 2 million hectares of arable land, India is the second largest potato grower in the world and Indian customers require specially adapted machines. GRIMME will contribute its cutting-edge German technology to the joint venture and Shaktiman will provide state-of-the-art production capacity. This will enable GRIMME to offer market- and demand-oriented machines that ideally complement the current product range. A cross-border team led by Luther partner Philipp Dietz advised GRIMME on the establishment of the joint venture.The GRIMME Group, a family business founded in 1861 and based in Damme, employs over 2,400 people worldwide and exports machines to over 120 countries. Shaktiman is a family business founded in 1997 and employs more than 2,500 people at its Indian production site in Rajkot with exports to over 90 countries.
