Background

Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH has supported the Polish bus manufacturer Solaris through a joint venture with the Indian JBM Group. The joint venture is an important step in the introduction of proven European solutions for environmentally-friendly electric and hybrid vehicles into Indian public transport.

Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. and the Indian JBM Group formed a joint venture in July 2016. The purpose of cooperating is to develop and distribute vehicles with alternative engines, i.e. electric and hybrid buses, in the Indian market. Bus manufacturer Solaris will take responsibility for developing, integrating and delivering components and for the know-how. The first jointly-produced vehicle will be presented in 12 to 18 months. The vehicles, which are partly based on Solaris designs, will be manufactured at JBM's production sites in India.

Luther advises companies looking to invest in India through its Cologne-based Indian Desk team. Corporate services provision for clients is also supported by the Luther office in Delhi-Gurgaon in India.
