Berlin, 27.06.2023 – At the start of the firm's new financial year, Luther Rechtswanwaltsgesellschaft is once again pleased to announce a new addition to its partner ranks: Prof. Dr. Christian Burholt will strengthen Luther's Berlin team with his expertise in antitrust law and his industry know-how in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, health care and life science industries.
Prof. Dr. Christian Burholt has been advising clients on all aspects of European and German antitrust law for over 20 years, particularly in the area of regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health care, life science, etc.). He is well-connected in the pharmaceutical industry – among other things, he headed the German Health Care & Life Science Industry Group at Baker McKenzie until his move. He is also an honorary professor of antitrust law at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and a judge at the Constitutional Court of the State of Berlin. The specialist lawyer for medical law is one of the frequently recommended lawyers in the areas of antitrust law/merger control, pharmaceuticals, medtech and health care.
In the future, Burholt will build up Luther's antitrust team in Berlin. In addition, he is to contribute his special expertise in the healthcare sector (Phama/MedTech/Health Care/Life Science) beyond antitrust law as co-head of Luther's industry group Health Care & Life Science.
Anne Wegner, Head of Antitrust at Luther, is excited about the new addition: "We are very pleased to be able to offer antitrust law in the capital with Christian Burholt and his team. Christian Burholt is the ideal 'match' to round off our strong position in the health care sector – especially in hospital mergers – in the life science/pharma/MedTech sector."
Dr Oliver Kairies, Co-Head of the Industry Group Health Care & Life Science, also sees a lot of potential for the further development of the Industry Group: "With Christian Burholt's excellent industry knowledge, we have great hopes of being able to expand our excellently positioned Industry Group with another future-oriented building block 'Pharma and MedTech'. We are also looking forward to linking our strong regulatory team with Christian Burholt and his colleagues, especially in the areas of M&A and medical law."
