Background

Euro 110.3m turnover in Germany // Euro 124m turnover including foreign offices

The law firm Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH has announced its turnover figures for the 2015/16 fiscal year that ended on 30 June 2016.

  • During the 2015/16 fiscal year, Luther achieved a turnover of Euro 110.3m in Germany. This represents a 3.0 percent increase in turnover compared to the previous year (Euro 107.6m). For the first time, Luther has succeeded in exceeding the Euro 110m turnover mark.
  • Luther's international business has also developed positively: in conjunction with its branch offices abroad, Luther has generated a total turnover of Euro 124m, which also means a 3.0 percent increase on the previous year (Euro 121m).
  • The number of accredited professionals in Germany has increased slightly, from 304 lawyers and tax consultants last year to 306 lawyers and tax consultants now. The number of equity partners has decreased from 73 to 72. During the 2015/16 fiscal year, the firm's 82 lawyers and accredited national professionals provided legal advice (2014/15: 70).

"We have achieved this increase in turnover with the same headcount as we had during the 14/15 fiscal year. This means that our firm's profitability has increased again during the fiscal year," says Elisabeth Lepique, Co-Managing Partner at Luther. "The real estate law, tax law, anti-trust law, IT outsourcing and M&A teams have been particularly successful." During the 2015/16 fiscal year, Luther's clients have included E.ON, Amazon, the Ärzteversorgung Niedersachsen, Zurich, Evonik,

IMMOFINANZ AG, the Berlin public transport system, SMEs, government ministries and the public sector.

Two of Luther's notable mandates during FY 15/16 were:

  • Between July 2015 and October 2015, Luther supported IMMOFINANZ AG during the sale of its entire European logistics portfolio to Blackstone (see press release)
  • From 2014 to 2016, Luther helped the Berlin public transport system prepare an EU-wide tender for the procurement of underground and tram facilities (see JUVE report).

Luther has firmly established itself in the market as a brand name for highly-qualified legal and tax advisory services. "Turnover for the last few years is more than just positive," says Dr. Markus Sengpiel, Co-Managing Partner at Luther.

"Over the last 10 years, we have appointed 42 equity partners, 45 salary partners and 13 counsel. At the same time, we have been able to increase turnover between 2007 and 2016 by around 63 percent. This continual growth over a number of years is evidence of a successful business model. We are going to continue our success story, and will therefore be able to offer ambitious colleagues the best possible career prospects."

In October 2015, Luther was recognized as the "Law Firm of the Year for Distribution / Sales / Logistics" by specialized publisher JUVE (press release).
