Luther law firm has successfully advised Fronteris AG of Regensburg on strategic participation of Krefeld municipal utilities (Stadtwerke Krefeld, SWK AG). SWK AG is acquiring a 24.9% stake in Fronteris AG through its subsidiary SWK ENERGIE GmbH. This partnership marks a significant step in the sustainable energy supply of Germany and underlines the contribution of the Luther law firm to the energy transition.
The cooperation between Fronteris and SWK, which was supported by Luther, aims to realise new projects in the field of renewable energies (RE) and to further develop the emerging business with large-scale battery storage systems. Fronteris, a leading company in the field of renewable energies, specialises in the project planning, realisation, sale and operation of onshore wind and open-field photovoltaic plants.
A team of Luther lawyers, headed by Dr. Michael Bormann, a well-known M&A expert, advised Fronteris on all legal matters concerning the participation and accompanied the negotiations with SWK AG. The cooperation offers both companies considerable strategic advantages: while Fronteris benefits from SWK's experience and market mechanisms, SWK AG strengthens its position in the field of green electricity generation and distribution. The cooperation makes it possible to develop new markets in the area of storage management, which makes a decisive contribution to the stabilisation and efficiency of energy supply.
By combining the strengths of both companies, the implementation of innovative energy concepts is accelerated in order to advance the expansion of renewable energies in Germany. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the transaction.
