Luther appoints energy, environmental and planning lawyer Prof. Dr Tobias Leidinger as a Partner

Dusseldorf - By resolution of the Partners' Meeting, Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft has appointed Prof. Dr Tobias Leidinger as a Partner. The experienced energy, planning and environmental lawyer, who is a certified specialist in administrative law, has worked as Counsel in the firm’s Dusseldorf office since 2015. The appointment confirms the outstanding quality of his advisory work, in particular for companies from the energy sector and from other industries and for public sector companies, including E.ON SE, PreußenElektra, Uniper, LEAG, EWN and BGE.

Background

Prof. Dr Leidinger has outstanding industry knowledge and many years of experience advising industrial companies, in particular on matters pertaining to energy, industrial plant, environmental, nuclear, planning and waste law. Currently, this includes providing advice on constitutional and compensation law issues in connection with the coal phase-out in Germany, but above all supporting complex infrastructure projects. Most recently, he was able to win the German Federal company for radioactive waste disposal (BGE) as a new client in an open public procurement competition. Luther is now advising BGE on the retrieval of radioactive waste from the Asse II mine.

Prof. Dr Tobias Leidinger is also a Director at the Institute for Mining and Energy Law (IBE) at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). Furthermore, he is the author of relevant textbooks and commentaries, especially on environmental and energy law, and a frequent lecturer.

Prof. Dr Leidinger’s CV

Studied law at the Universities of Freiburg i. Br., Münster and Speyer (Germany). Several years of academic work at the Institute for Public Business Law at the University of Münster. Obtained his doctorate in 1992 for a thesis on a topic relating to special administrative law. Has been practising as a lawyer since 1995, and as a certified specialist in administrative law since 1999: until 1998, as a lawyer in the law firm Kapellmann & Partner, Dusseldorf, which specialised in private and public building law and legal project management; from 1998 to 2012, as an in-house lawyer in a leading position in the energy industry (DAX 30 group), in various functions and at different locations in Germany and abroad, with an emphasis on energy, industrial plant, environmental and regulatory law; from 2012 to 2015, as a lawyer in the Dusseldorf office of Gleiss Lutz. Prof. Dr Leidinger joined Luther’s Dusseldorf office in 2015, where he advises on public business, energy, planning and environmental law.
